Connect Samsung Galaxy S Mobile with Kies

Part 1
If you have a new phone then it is straight forward.
  1. Just download Kies from Samsung site.
  2. Install it and run.
  3. In phone, go 'Settings -> USB setting' and select  'Samsung Kies'.
  4. Connect phone to PC.
  5. Then Kies should automatically detect the phone.
But most cases it isn't that much easy.
If Kies isn't detecting your phone, then you have to do some additional things too.... ;)

Part 2
  1. First try to update drivers.
    • Remove USB cable.
    • Click on 'Resolution Connection Errors' on Kies.

      • It will re-install Samsung drivers on your PC.
    • Then restart PC and try to connect (as mentioned in part 1).
  2. If point (1) didn't work for you, try to connect after removing external SD card (if you have any).
  3. If point (2) didn't work,
    • Connect phone with 'Mass Storage' mode.
      • you can select 'Mass Storage' mode  in phone - Go 'Settings -> USB setting' and select  'Mass Storage '.
    • Set hidden files visible on your PC.
      • Go 'Folder and search options -> View ->  Show hidden files, folders and drivers'
    • Open phone storage in Windows Explorer.
    • Check folder names which are stated with dot(.) and having more than 16 characters.
      • Ex: ".thisfoldernamehasit"
    • If any, delete those folders(only if they stated with dot(.) and having more than 16 characters)
    • Then remove the phone and change 'USB settings' to 'Samsung Kies' and try to connect again  (as mentioned in part 1).
  4. If point (3) didn't work,
    • Close all Launchers on the phone
      • Ex:  'ADW.Launcher'... etc..
    • Try to connect again  (as mentioned in part 1).

By following above points you should be able to connect your phone to PC via Kies.

If you want to update the OS to Android 2.3 (or even 4.0), don't try to use Kies. It allows updating only for European Countries.
But don't worry. There are several ways to do that.
Next time I'll describe all those things.
Stay tuned...
